People are more likely to second guess their decisions when tired and stressed. When phrases such as, ‘would have’, ‘could have’, or ‘should have’ are used, it adds to the stress and lowers self esteem. In turn it negatively influences a person’s openness to consider new ideas and use new decisions.
The next time you find yourself tempted to use any of those phrases, why not replace your choice with “I made the best decision at the time. Given the chance to make the decision again, it may be different.” It’ll bring you back to balance.
Life’s about learning, right?
Bottom Line: Creativity involves new ideas and new decisions. Use them, make them, learn from them. And do no harm.
